2020 Koojan Hills Angus Bull Sale

The 2020 Koojan Hills Angus bull sale will be held on Monday 24th February with the sale beginning at 1pm WST.

This year the Metcalfe family will be offering 78 Koojan Hills Angus bulls at their on-property sale complex. For the first time this years sale will be listed on AuctionsPlus to accommodate online bidding.

The second half of 2019 has been very kind to us here in Manypeaks and this years sale team has benefited enormously. After the green grass disappeared at the end of November the bulls moved onto quality dry feed as well as supplementary oaten hay and have continued to power along!

Koojan Hills are particularly proud of the fact the bulls will have had no grain or pellet supplements and so will be entirely grass-fed. The Metcalfe’s believe this more natural preparation directly correlates to greater semen quality as well as improved overall bull longevity.

  • Koojan Hills bulls are 100% grass fed

  • All bulls have passed semen testing

  • All bulls are BVD negative

  • All bulls have completed the Zoetis STAR BREEDER Program

  • Free of all genetic conditions

  • Koojan Hills is a J-BAS 8 herd

  • Personal delivery free of charge within 1000km of Manypeaks

  • No credits operate at Koojan Hills bull sales

This year we included a vaccination to prevent Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR). IBR is the most common clinical syndrome associated with Bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-1) infection in Australian cattle herd

The Metcalfe family believe that this years line-up of bulls are the most even group they have offered to date. The thickness down the spine, depth of body and functionality of this years team have been the talking points for all who have inspected the bulls.

61 of this year bulls have an above breed average Angus Breeding Index and 33 bulls have below average birthweight. There is a good selection of bulls suitable for heifers with the bulls then ranging up to some impact, herd improving bulls.

The principal AI sires represented in this years sale line-up are Granite Ridge Kaiser K26 and JMB Traction 292. There are several other impressive AI sires who feature in the team with some of the standouts bulls being sons of Ardrossan Honour H255, Deer Valley Patriot 3222 and LD Capitalist 316.

Granite Ridge Kaiser K26 sons make up the biggest sire line of bulls at this years sale with 14 on offer. Kaisers sons averaged over $10,000 at our 2019 sale and this year he has produced another exceptional draft of sons to pick from. The Kaiser bulls are again powerful, thick bulls with the standouts being Lot 20, WKHP79 and Lot 25, WKHP111 with some young bulls at the end of the catalogue Lot 71, WKHP388 and Lot 72, WKHP392 being every bit as good!

Sons of M4 are more moderate, fleshy bulls while the the M35 sons are slightly more powerful with plenty of style and presence like Lot 22, Koojan Hills Pendulum P91. There is also 11 bulls by Blackrock Emperor J43 in this years sale who has again left a very good lineup of younger, impact bulls.
