New Stud Sires
We are super excited to announce two new additions to our stud sire battery after our trip to the 2019 Texas Angus Bull Sale in Warialda, NSW.
We have great admiration of the quality of cattle at Texas Angus and have been very impressed by the first of our AI calves sired by Texas Mt Kaputar M100 who already boast style and thickness. We were intent on obtaining more genetics from the heart of the Texas herd and we feel we achieved this with the two bulls we bought.
Lot 74 Texas Western Express N505(AI)(ET) took top honours at the sale; selling for $34,000. The 918kg son of Bangadang Western Express E10 out of Texas’s matriarch donor Texas Undine Z183 ticked all the boxes. He has phenotype, weight for age, the numbers and a history second to none. His dam Z183 has sold close to $850,000 in progeny without including semen sales of her sons!
Upon inspection N505 instantly caught our attention with a strong top line, plenty of meat down the spine and a big strong outlook. He boasts capacity, length and volume and is extremely structurally correct as well as having a bulletproof temperament. N505 epitomises the direction we want the Koojan Hills herd to head in.
We were so impressed with the Texas program we couldn’t resist buying Texas’s highest ever performing bull to sell through the ring, Lot 45 Texas Pocock P046 for $24,000. Like the Wallaby player he was named after he is “one hell of a beast” with ADG 1.57kgs/day, weighing 876kgs with a moderate birth weight of 33kgs combined with huge growth, carcase, temperament and A1 structure.
At only 19 months of age P046 possesses softness, thickness and fleshing ability with good bone and strength of head. Described as a REAL power bull we look forward to seeing him inject serious weight into the Koojan Hills herd.
We are looking forward to the bulls arriving in Manypeaks and we plan to use them in our late calving cows straight away.
Finally, congratulations to the Mayne family on a terrific sale result in such difficult seasonal circumstances!
