2021 Bull Sale Preparation
Bull sale preparation is well underway and we are close to finalising our bull catalogue for our upcoming on-property sale on the 22nd February 2021.
We’ve been fortunate enough to experience a very wet finish to 2020 with 90mm of rain falling in November. This has meant the bulls are still on green feed going into December and we don’t expect to have to start feeding supplementary hay to the bulls until well into January; a great outcome for both us and the bulls! Our 100% grass fed bull preparation has continued to work for us in terms of semen quality as we experienced another year of zero failures during semen testing in October. We expect this natural preparation also leads to better bull longevity for our clients.
Bulls enjoying green feed - 14th November 2020
Its been a busy couple of months for the bulls starting with Ben Glatz scanning the bulls for carcase data - a big couple of days!! They’ve been semen tested, freeze branded and all completed their Zoetis Star Breeder vaccinations. We will again be vaccinating all our bulls to prevent Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR) in December.
This year we will be again offering approximately 75 bulls and we feel that with the added selection pressure that we now have in the herd, this years 75 will be a very even, high quality line of bulls. All of this years bulls are good footed, fertile, quiet and range from low birthweight heifer bulls to some powerful impact sires suitable for breeding replacement heifers.
New sire lines this year include Sitz Investment 660Z, S Powerpoint WS 5503, S S Niagara Z29 and Texas Mt Kaputar M100. We have another high quality line of Granite Ridge Kaiser K26 sons to pick from as well as bulls sired by our number one paddock sire, Koojan Hils M35.
